The first European settlement was built in 1861, when Dennis Brigham took a piece of the land to build a cabin. In 1890, a man named Hewitt began the process of acquisition of land that will later be known as the Everett Land Company. He formed a syndicate with Charles Colby and they named the town that grew around their factories the city of Everett. Everett was the site of an unfortunate event that happened in 1916 and later became known as the Everett Massacre. The incident occurred during the confrontation of the members of the Industrial Workers of the World with the mob that was led by the Sheriff.
