Located in Kentucky, south of Louisville and north of Elizabethtown, Fort Knox is a United States Army post that covers parts of Bullitt, Hardin and Meade counties. It stretches over 109,000 acres (170 sq. m. / 441 sq. km.). It is where the Army human resources Center of Excellence, the United States Army Accessions Command, the United States Army Cadet Command, and Army Human Resources Command is being held.

It also holds the U.S. Army Armor Center and US Army Armor School for nearly seventy years (1940-2010). Fort Knox is used by both the Marin Corps and Army to train crews on the M1 Abrams main battle tank. It is a very historical site where the General George Patton Museum is found. The museum shows the history of the US Army’s Cavalry and Armed Forces and General George Patton’s career as well. A population of 12,377 which form a consensus-designated place (CDP) at the 2000 census is found on the parts of the bases in Hardin and Meade Counties.
