MC Detachment Fort Benning Military Lawyer

Fort Benning is a United States Army post located outside Columbus, Georgia. It supports active-duty military, their family members, reserve component soldiers, retirees, and civilian employees – all numbering more than 120,000. The United States Army Maneuver of Excellence, United States Army Infantry School, the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation (used to be known as the School of the Americas), United States Army Armor School, components of the 75th Ranger Regiment, 3rd Brigade – 3rd Infantry Division and other abiding units are also found here. This army post has the capability to deploy combat-ready forces by air, rail, and highway due to its power projection platform.

Fort Benning was the Home of the Infantry since 1918. It was altered into the Maneuver Center of Excellence in 2005. This is due to the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) Commission’s move to unify a number of schools to create numerous “centers of excellence” on the same year. The commission’s decision included the movement of the Armor School of Fort Knox to Fort Benning as well.
