RAF Alconbury, Huntingdon, is a US Air Force Base
RAF Alconbury is a military airfield in Huntingdon, England. The airfield is located in the civil parish of The Stukeleys. It is near the villages of Great Stukeley, Little Stukeley, and the town of Stratford-upon-Avon. It is a major location for aircraft training. A visit to RAF Alconbury will allow you to learn more about the airfield.

RAF Alconbury is home to the 501st Combat Support Wing. Founded in 1943, it provides mission support to United Kingdom-based air base groups while deployed to overseas theaters. Its mission is to train, equip, and supply these airbase groups. This base was originally known as RAF Sculthorpe, but the US Air Force now controls it. Today, RAF Alconbury employs more than 1,800 people.

The RAF Alconbury airfield was given back to the RAF on 26 November 1945. The 652d Bomb Squadron flew specially-equipped B-17s on weather reconnaissance missions from April to October. The airfield remained in caretaker status until 1951 when it was placed in the hands of the Eighth Air Force. On the last day of the war, the 1st Air Division transferred its headquarters to Brampton Grange. The 435th Air Support Group, operating there since April 1990, was deactivated.

RAF Alconbury is the closest military installation to RAF Upwood. The RAF Upwood is located nearby. There are also synagogues in Peterborough and Cambridge, and the RAF Alconbury Chapel offers regular Protestant and Catholic services. The 93d Support Squadron was activated on 1 January 1954. The 96th Fighter Wing was assigned to the base in September 1952.

The RAF has three RAF installations in Cambridgeshire, and the main runway is the oldest of these. The RAF Alconbury Airfield was under RAF control from 1938 until July 1945. During World War II, the RAF also used the site as a base for training and maintenance. In the UK, the two airfields were close to London. However, the tenth aircraft – the X-Waveranger – was assigned to RAF Alconbury.

RAF Alconbury was initially used to support the American Navy in the Atlantic. In October, the RAF was home to the 423rd Air Base Group, which conducts air refueling operations for the US and UK. During this time, RAF Alconbury supported other US military bases, including RAF Molesworth. The site is located near the American Cemetery at Madingley.

During the Second World War, RAF Alconbury was a refueling station for B-17 groups of the 1st Air Division. The RAF was later renamed RAF Alconbury as a satellite airfield of the Tactical Air Command and grew to become a key location for B-17 fighters. The refueling facilities were crucial to the success of the wartime.

RAF Alconbury is an active Royal Air Force airfield located near Huntingdon, England. The airfield is home to a 501 Combat Support Wing, a unit of the RAF that provides host unit services for other units in the area. This base is in the civil parish of The Stukeleys. After one year of service, the RAF Alconbury base is closed for federal holidays.

England Court Martial Attorneys

RAF Alconbury was designated as Station 102 (AL) by the United States Air Force in 1942. The station was designated as a strategic airfield and allocated to the Eighth Air Force. The first unit to activate at the base was the 357th Air Services Squadron. It was commanded by Col. Edward J. Timberlake, the 501st Combat Support Wing.

The Royal Air Force first used RAF Alconbury as a satellite base of RAF Upwood. It was used as a dispersal site for military personnel during war games and as a storage facility for many War Reserve Material. The Royal Air Force used the station until July 1941, when a new unit was assigned to RAF Alconbury. The airfield’s name was changed to RAF Upwood.

The RAF Alconbury airfield was upgraded in 1992. In November 1942, King George VI visited the RAF base to see the B-24 “Teggie Ann” and other aircraft. The 92d Bombardment Group moved to RAF Alconbury in July and Bovingdon in August. While the Air Force Fire Department was in operation at RAF’ Alconbury’, the 93d bombardment group moved there as well.
