Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, Washington D.C.
Resting near the Potomac and Anacostia Rivers in southeast Washington, D.C. is the Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling (JBAB). Originally the base operated two independent bases of the US Armed Forces, namely, the Naval Support Facility Anacostia and the Bolling Air Force Base. Due to legislation passed by congress in 2005, this joint base was established through the Base Realignment and Closure Commission. This base has been jointed since October 1, 2010, and is 1 of 12 such entities.
JBAB functions as a Navy-led co-military command. Navy and Air Force planning personnel formed teams to transition the two bases into a seamless unit. The military installation sits upon 1018 acres and holds approximately 14,000 civilian and military individuals. JBAB is home to the ceremonial support of the Air Force and Navy.
